immortalrose[ Scrawled in the finest penmanship that anyone probably seen is a brief message deceptively cryptic in design. It features an old proverb that loosely hints to Kirigakure's fondness for water and fish. ]

I've heard a lot about the political unrest where you are, and I want to write to make sure that you're okay with everything that's been going on. Please write back soon.

It was salvaged from a corpse in the last few days and it will likely come as a shock and cause some confusion for any who recognize the symbol belonging to a missing shinobi from Konoha potentially gone missing in the last year while on a mission.]

If it wouldn’t be too much trouble could we ask a few questions of the scrolls at large? We seem to be in need of some information. If you do provide any information for us, it won’t be without compensation. But we’ll work out terms on a case by case basis.
Most pressing right now is location. We seem to be on an...island. The water is blue/green calm presently, but it’s not clear. Sort of cloudy, the bottom not something that can be seen beyond the first few feet. There seemed to be another landmass off to the southwest, southeast, and northwest.
[The handwriting changes. The easy loopy handwriting changing to a different hand entirely. And the tone shifting to seeming playful despite being text on a page.]
Dere’s more than just dhose three. I saw dhem flying over da island. And dere’s a volcano at the center of dhe island too. Don’t do nothin’ tho. All dere is up dere is a building.
[The handwriting changes again, to something painstakingly neat and even.]
Beyond location, we require information on locating supplies. This island will not sustain the needs of our… clan over the long term without contact with others. We seek allies, willing to provide supplies in exchange. Again, compensation will be discussed with each individual or group willing to offer them.
[Another handwriting change, but this one has been blotted out with great enthusiasm. Visible in the thorough blots is "wea" "ki" and the word "asses." The original hand returns now a little rushed at first and then it evens out.]
We’d appreciate greatly if you can help us with any of those things. If you can’t but think you have information we might be interested in about other things, we’ll also welcome that as well.

To allay any concerns, we have no interest in expanding our territory or engaging in hostile action at this time. Our concern is trade and information.

[OOC: The scroll was written by most of the Embryon. As such both Gale and Argilla will be tagging into responses in varying degrees. Also, please feel free to assume your character knew the original owner of the scroll as they came from Konoha before going missing themselves in the last year.]

I regret to inform you that I really won't be put forth as an exam student this round. Sensei claims it is because my teammates are still fresh from the Academy, but I am uncertain I believe him. Both seem capable. One seems dangerously deranged as well, and I am led to believe that has a chance of bolstering his eligibility for promotion in Kiri. He is, however, somewhat stupid, in my assessment. So perhaps there is a grain of truth to Sensei's logic.
Perhaps.
A part of me, however, cannot help but feel he might have other factors influencing his decision. He hasn't outright said anything, but I have the distinct impression he doesn't like you very much. Did you say something to him, when we spoke during that ridiculous berry mission? I've already assured him that I am not seeking you out as a replacement for him, so I don't think that's at the root of the issue.
I am disappointed that I will not get to see what your village looks like, but will endeavor to enter the next Exam. Enclosed are some ribbons edged with seed pearls, left over from a commission the shop recently finished. They are too short to really be of much use in tying my hair, but I suppose you can use them for the Abomination.
There is also a sealed flask of scentless oil, for maintenance on the jacket I previously sent you. Instructions are attached.

It had been a gift from some wealthy merchant who had been angling for a marriage between her and his son to tie him to her family's textile shop, but thankfully the forehead protector ended that idea.
