Many things have been heard to be going on in the world in the last weeks, and while it is regrettable, as Hokage I can but he thankful that the disasters that have hit some of our allies have not befallen us in the same way. That does not mean that we can allow our guard to be dropped, and I fear that I also must bid you all bear with the heightened tensions yet longer.
The police, at my behest, have been proactive in the months leading up to this due to information which came to my attention, to say nothing of the security breaches last year, and I will not regret the precaution for what it is. Please do not grow resentful, as the checks that they have been doing are not personal. They are for the safety of those who live here, to keep our home free of those who would do harm. Keep your identification on you, and continue to check in at the intervals assigned to you with whatever your current mission out of the village might be. This cannot be stressed enough. We have lost people, too many of late, and there is no promise that yet more might not be lost to us in the coming months.
The attacks on our allies can be called nothing short of a declaration of war, but we have yet to determine exactly who our enemies are. We cannot lose caution now, not without risk of heavy costs, so please, protect one another, and show the spirit that made Konoha the great village that it is. Things will change, as war has once again turned its ugly visage on us, but we will hold fast, and burn brightly in spite of this.
Konoha will not falter, and we definitely will not fall. It is up to all of you, the loyal shinobi of Konohagakure, to be those who hold up this village through the hardships to come.
I, at least, will do all I can to see that it is so.
