[Closed] September 15th - Sealed to Kakashi
[Yamato perched precariously on the narrow ledge, noting the still pulled curtains with a fond smile, before placing his small burden squarely before the window. A carefully penned missive was slipped under the gift and a press of chakra ensured it would remain there until collected.
(Having received his own note a little over a month before, Yamato was eager to respond in kind and casually ignored the fact that it was some ungodly hour of the morning.)
Task completed, he knocked twice (none too gently), on the sturdy window frame and flitted silently away, back across the roof tops.]
Senpai,
Another year down and finally a complete set. I saved the best for last.. I hope he approves.
I guess I'll be seeing you around this time, hm?
Though, in case I don't,
Enjoy your day!
- Yamato
[The plain white card revealed the usual heavy handed slant of Yamato's writing; his new name, somehow failing to look out of place in the familiar script.
The gift, on closer inspection, seemed to be a seamless, matt wooden box, no bigger than an average palm size. It opened easily when pulled from opposite corners and was revealed to house an incredibly detailed figure of a rather unamused looking Pug. The wooden ninken came complete with hitai-ate and blue waistcoat and scowled balefully up at the observer; looking for all the world, as if he'd rather be some place else.]
I FINALLY GET TO USE THIS ICON, YESSS.
With stumbling feet he tottered from his bed, to the window and threw the curtains wide. Who in the world was waking him at this hour?
Careful hands opened the window and picked the box from the sill. He didn't need to study it to recognize what it must have been; the firm grooves in the dark wood were unmistakably Tenzou's doing. Was it his birthday already? He could have sworn he'd just had one.
Later, when the box had been opened and Pakkun had been summoned to scrutinize his little wooden doppelganger, Kakashi sealed the scribbled note he'd hastily penned and gave the pug his orders.
Find Yamato, give him this and bite him for waking me up.]
TenzouYamato-(I'm sure I'll get the hang of that eventually.)
Thank you.
If your guess was a ploy to draw me in for a rendezvous, it worked.
I doubt there will be anything major happening in my honor, but you're welcome to join me for drinks tonight with a few friends.
Don't be a stranger, now.
-Kakashi.
[The little wooden ninken found his place on the shelf overlooking Kakashi's bed, alongside his seven other counterparts.
Eight years had passed, a little ninja hound for each.
Ugh, Kakashi felt so old.]
