[Peter knew he'd been away from home... a lot lately. A lot lately, but he could still touch base, make sure that when he came back around home he wouldn't find himself in a mess. That, and he could check on the few people who were remotely on friendly terms with him while he was at it. Win win.]
To Ashiko-san,
Given that I haven't managed to be back in the village for more than a day or two in the last two months, I was wondering how everything was going? I'm so sorry if I ruined any plans you might have made around my birthday, since I know you tend to do nice things for the shinobi on those days, and I really hope I didn't waste any of your time or anything.
I was mostly writing to make sure all is well and to see if there are any particular errands that I need to do before I head home after this particular research mission.
Best Regards,
Peter

Thank you for your forethought. I myself have been out and about far more often than I usually do, and as such opted to keep your gift nonperishable this year. I came across a rather antiquated scroll I feel suits your interests. After a cursory examination, Danna-sama concurred.
When our paths coincide once more, I do hope you will permit me to fix you a belated birthday meal.
Sincerely,
Kuzuryu Ashiko

I would be a madman to decline a chance to enjoy the food of such a wonderful cook. I would be honored to enjoy such a thing. Is there anything I can get for you personally before I head back to Oto?
