Dear little brother:
I expect to be gone for a month this time, or more. Please take this time to improve your skills and test your limits. I regret that my recent medical issues have taken up so much of my time, and have been remiss in by brotherly duty of helping you become a better shinobi. I will rectify this on my return, and would like to remind you that staying informed of your enemies motivations and movements is the first step of any combat or mission.
P.S: Be cautious in removing this note, as facial burns are painful and ceilings burn very well.

Thank you very much for the invitation to tea. It has been some time since I had a leisurely afternoon spent simply on pleasure, and I have been reminded taking a break from your duties can sharpen the mind. I look forward repaying the favor when I am next able to find some free time.

[A box of smaller than average kunai with carefully leather wrapped handles is delivered to Ami. The kunai are two sets of graduating size. Within the sets they’re differing weights, the heaviest being half again as heavy as a standard kunai. The note is on a crumpled piece of much folded origami paper.]

I found these and thought they might be useful for kunai practice. It’s important to use tools that fit your hand as well as your current strength. Please take care not to strain your wrists, as I know Shisui has some very harsh words for gennin who do so. Please do not feel the need to be too careful with them, as they are a fairly old set and have already been much abused.

I thought I should do this before I change my mind. You should hold me to it. Please don’t tell Sasuke. I would like to tell him myself.

[A very old scroll depicting some ancient sword style in exceedingly boring detail arrives carefully wrapped and with a note around the 27th:] I had a feeling you might appreciate this more than I would. I have no idea if it would be at all useful to you, but as it has been months since I offered to help you with your sword styles, perhaps something awful is better than nothing.
