To All People of the Village,
As you are all aware, our Kazekage has been assassinated by a coordinated effort made by enemies of our village. This was no accident, this was no mission gone awry, this was an act of war. I can tell just by looking at those of you on the street that many of you are fearful, or don't understand where we are going from here, so I will say this.
This is not the first time such a tragedy has befallen our village, and this is not the end of our village. Ever since its inception, Sunagakure has been a village of survivors, those that can shoulder the worst of the elements and enemies alike, and this has continued to this day and will continue far into the future.
The council is convening to decide who will act as the Fourth's successor. I trust whoever is chosen will be right for the job and will both serve and lead the village as all Kazekages who have come before have. In the meantime, we as a village must prepare. We will be in open hostilities in the future. We may be in all out war once more. I will be expecting every member of the village including myself to be giving it their all, to protect and preserve what we and everyone who has come before us has worked to create.
Have your moment to be fearful, have your moment to mourn, but when the time comes, rise and take up arms as proud shinobi of Sunagakure.
